Welcome to Introduction to Sociology!

I hope you are looking forward to learning about the topic of Sociology.  We will be exploring culture and society to learn how these dynamic forces affect human social behavior.  How does the family, religion, government, education etc. impact how we behave?  So if you will bring a willing mind to class, together we will see just how far we can stretch that mind.  CAUTION: work is required.

What is expected of you?

You are expected to attend classes regularly.  You are expected to do the reading and be ready to participate in class (I will call on you).  You are expected to turn in your assignments and turn them in on time.  You are expected to study for the exams and take them on the assigned date.  The following is a breakdown of how you will be graded:

Exams (2)                                35% of total grade
FINAL EXAM (cumulative)   25% of total grade
Social Change Paper              20% of total grade
Class activities/attendance     20% of total grade

Open discussion is welcome on any topic we cover.

I look forward to the summer semester, and I hope you do too!
