The moment that justice must be paid for by the victim of injustice, it becomes injustice itself.

Benjamin Tucker

Justice for the perpetrators cannot be separated from the vindication of the rights of the individual victim.

Jalal Talabani

Welcome to Victimology!

I hope you are looking forward to learning about the topic of Victimology.  We will be exploring who are victims of crime, the role of the perpetrator and the victim, and how the criminal justice system responds to victims of crime.  We will learn about very specific crimes such as rape, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse and others.  Recognizing that some of the topics may be difficult for some people, we will approach the subjects with sensitivity.

What is expected of you?

You are expected to attend classes regularly.  You are expected to do the reading and be ready to participate in class.  You are expected to turn in your assignments and turn them in on time.  You are expected to study for the exams and take them on the assigned date.

Open discussion is welcome on any topic we cover.

I look forward to this semester, and I hope you do too!
