MY STATEMENT OF LEARNING
As a Professor at Clinton Community College
To my students. I will strive to provide quality education in a friendly environment for all of my students to the best of my ability. I promise to value learning as much as, or more than, teaching. I will encourage all of my students to participate in discussions but ask students to think before they speak. I will attempt to bring the latest technology into all of my classrooms and encourage learning on-line in different forms. I will respond to my students as a "coach" with innovative ideas and new material to meet a challenging and ever-changing world.
To my community. I will attempt to contribute my personal values to the betterment of the quality of life in my community and I will be an active partner in the community. I will try to give back what has given to me. By providing standard-setting services, I will continue to believe that what I do with and for my community reflects on my commitment to my college.
To my college and the taxpayers who fund my college. I recognize my college as a place of quality. I will reconfirm daily that I am someone who really cares about everything I do on this campus and off this campus. Since those who fund my college and provide my wages have entrusted me with responsibilities, I will respect those contributions and challenge others to do the same.
To my fellow employees. I will treat my peers as team members and enlist their support of all student, community, and college affairs. Without this teamwork, I know we can gain nothing. I will value their ideas, values, and beliefs. I will try to understand their role at the college and will help them understand my role--this will help us all better serve our "customers."
MY VISION AND PLEDGE OF VALUES
I pledge to:
Achieve excellence, by hard work and empathy.
Earn respect and embrace
integrity, not demand it.
Develop trust by being up-to-date and by caring.
Recognize positive communication, and reward it.
Value equal rights, because
we are entitled to them.
Encourage diversity, because we are all different.
Utilize teamwork, since I know I cannot do everything myself.
Promote the development of decision-making and problem-solving skills--they are
needed in every-day situations.
Encourage discussion, including those who are reluctant to
contribute.
Develop
physical and mental wellness inside and outside the classroom.
Ensure that
everyone knows they are not indispensable, but yet valued.
Increase and
maintain the quality of life in all of my surroundings and endeavors.
It's YOUR life--go for it.
