Welcome to Mental Health Nursing! As you journey through this course you will explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors related to mental health. My hope is that you will learn to "fully" listen to your patients' stories and, as a result, enhance the quality of your relationships and nursing practice. You will learn to recognize adaptive and maladaptive behavior and, through the therapeutic relationship, help your patients to cope more effectively. You will also find yourself looking inward and becoming more self aware. My wish is that this course intrigues you and leaves you being more empathic toward your patients, family and friends. |
