I. Verizon Course Description:

This course is designed to train students in the organization, architecture, setup, maintenance, hardware and software aspects of local area networks. Topics include: introduction to networks; types and characteristics of different network architectures and network topologies; intra and inter-network devices; network operating systems; peer-to-peer and client/server environments; LAN setup and maintenance, network printing; internal web server. A hands-on approach will be taken, with team projects throughout.

VII. Assignments and Attendance:
VIII. Evaluation, Grading, and Makeup Policy:

Students will be evaluated by  1 WebQuest, 11 Assignments, 10 Quizzes and a Final Exam during the semester. Makeup quizzes may be given with a valid written excuse. The WebQuest, Quizzes and Final Exam shall be graded on a scale of 0 - 100. The assignment grade will reflect the percentage correct. Final grade point distribution is:

WebQuest Project 10% Written Assignments 40% Quizzes 40% Final Exam 10%

Percentages for the final grade will be rounded to the nearest whole point, and a letter grade will be assigned. The grading scale is as follows:

95 - 100=A, 90 - 94=A-, 86 - 89=B+, 83 - 85=B, 80 - 82=B-, 76-79=C+, 73 - 75=C, 70-72=C-, 65 - 69=D+, 60 - 64=D, 0 - 59=F

XI. Emergency procedures:

Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced on local radio stations as listed in the CCC student handbook. Class cancellations due to instructor absence will be posted on the classroom door. Room changes will be announced in advance whenever possible and posted on the classroom door.
